DobroFest 2010
DobroFest 2010
The already 19th year of the international music festival, held under the title DobroFest on June 11 and 12, is dedicated to the memory of John Dopyer (1893 — 1988), Slovak countryman coming from Trnava region who invented the dobro, a special kind of acoustic (resophonic) guitar. Similarly to the previous occasions, the 19th year of the festival was aimed at paying tribute to John Dopyer, Slovak native and inventor of the dobro, at providing support and assisting improvement of regional and national musical culture. The DobroFest´s dominant concept is still understood as the notion of “dobro” (goodness) in the widest sense of the word, thereby adding not merely a musical dimension to the festival but a spiritual one as well; also, it aims at the promotion of Trnava City with its partners, using the festival to offer good music, and to provide opportunities to young artists for presentation of their works in the ART PICNIC event, successfully accompanying not only this festival but others as well. This year´s performers included, for example, Milan Lasica and Bratislava Hot Serenaders, Cigánski diabli, Buty, Para and others.
